Transportation is the biggest key to getting to Alaska since it’s connected to Canada. If you want to drive from San Marcos, Texas it is 4,086 miles away which would be 67 hours. That is a really long way to drive, not impossible but you would need a long vacation time. They do offer fairies for your car if you need it.

Many people may fly there given that it is a long way from home. To fly from San Marcos, Tx to Ketchikan would be 6 hours without any stops. Sadly every flight there you would need to make 1 or more stop from where you are to Alaska and if you are going to a less populated part of Alaska you would need to take light aircraft.

My personal favorite is to take a cruise ship, which more people choose to do. You would fly to either Settle, Washington or Vancouver, Canada to board the cruise ships. There are many options when it comes to cruises, you get to pick how long you’ll be there and what your accommodations are to fit your budget better. Since there are multiple cruise lines that go to Alaska you can find the perfect one for you.
