Denali holds North America’s tallest mountain Mt. Denali, which is also known as Mt. McKinley. Not many get to see Mount Denali with such clear views and it was an honor to see it on such a perfect day. If you are fortunate enough to see Mt. Denali you apparently get to join the 30% club. It is the tallest mountain in North America and I can not imagine climbing it at a height of 20,308 ft.
They have bus tours that take you close to the mountain and they make stops so you can get out and get your photo opportunities. You also see a lot of wildlife along the way such as bears, moose and your occasional bald eagle. If you are afraid of heights be warned you go up a mountain on a very small road. The bus drivers are very experienced, but for some it may make you faint.
White water rafting is an amazing experience in Alaska, we went white water rafting by Mt. Denali. You have to really be careful when doing things like this. You need to be with an experienced person and guide because the water does get crazy and you need to know how to maneuver through it. If you do not know how to swim and you don’t know how to take instructions well this is not for you. We started out slow and calm, then things got crazier and we ended up going underwater and luckily popping right back out. He did warn us of flipping but luckily we had a great ride and that didn’t happen and we finished off very smoothly.
If you are an adrenaline junky white water rafting is definitely for you on Nenana River Gorge. They will let you get out of the raft for a bit and swim, with the suit it's not that bad but your hand definitely feels the coldness of the water. It’s not too harsh where kids and ealderly can’t get on but it does take a bit of endurance to be rowing for a long period of time. This is something the whole family can enjoy. It’s definitely an experience you will never forget.
